I’LL BE AT SXSW SYDNEY!
Hi there! Sally here. I’m involved with a bunch of events at SXSW Sydney this year, so wanted to add them all here!
For most of these events you’ll need a SXSW Sydney badge, with the exception of the Artists x Creative Tech event at NSW House. Scroll on for more details.
Want to catch up during the festival? Shoot me a message at hello@bigsand.band :)
BIG SAND LIVE SHOW!
The Big Sand live show is a fun and quirky pop concert performed entirely inside Unreal Engine, for a physical live audience!
I’ll be performing remotely using a motion capture suit to animate the band’s lead singer and interact with the audience.
It’s one of the only music performances happening at the iconic Esports venue Fortress. I’m super excited about this one! Don’t miss it!
FRIDAY 18 OCT
9:30PM
FORTRESS CENTRAL PARK
MOTION CAPTURE WORKSHOP
This is an interactive workshop, where I’ll show you the motion capture technology used to transform a physical live performance into a digital one.
I’ll give an overview of several different kinds of motion capture tools, as well as Unreal Engine's live virtual production techniques.
The most fun part? You’ll get to try out new AI-powered markerless motion capture solutions.
Spots are very limited! I’ve been told it’s already been popular so they’re going to introduce a booking page - keep an eye out!
WEDNESDAY 16 OCT
10:30-11:30AM
UTS DATA ARENA (BUILDING 11)
ARTISTS X EMERGING TECH
I’m delivering this event at NSW House and it’s FREE - even if you don’t have a SXSW Sydney badge!
I really want this event to be community-focused, so we’ll be hearing from several super cool local artists, then getting the chance to mix & meet with other creatives experimenting with emerging tech.
Use the link to register to attend - I know it says “registration does not guarantee entry” but we’ve set aside some seats for non-badge holders :)
SOUND BYTES:
GAME ENGINES X MUSIC
This is a super cool panel with two other musicians who are also using game engines to create interactive musical experiences!
The three of us are all completing PhDs, so expect a super interesting chat. Jacob Hedges is working on an audio-driven VR experience, and Yunyu has done some incredible work with digital Taika drumming and 3D audio world-building.
WEDNESDAY 16 OCT
1:00PM-2:00PM
